LA Fish runs on Windows 10/11, macOS 12 (Monterey) and later, and Ubuntu-based Linux distributions. On Apple Silicon Macs, Pro image processing uses Apple Vision on the device.

Local image processing runs on your device. Optional AI reading, available on every plan with a monthly allowance, requires an internet connection and your explicit consent. Session verification and syncing also use the internet.

No. The LA Fish desktop app works with any scanner (flatbed or document scanner), camera, or existing image files (JPEG, PNG, PDF). The optional LA Fish scanning device is designed only to speed up high-volume receipt scanning workflows.

For taxpayers under the simple method, self-employed ledger, or freelance professional regimes: you give LA Fish the bulk expense/income Excel template you downloaded from the Turkish Revenue Administration's (GİB) Defter-Beyan System. LA Fish fills in the template using the receipts it has read (converting the VAT rate and payment type into the template's own code tables); you then upload the completed file to Defter-Beyan yourself. Mapping is automatic: LA Fish reads the template's columns and code lists directly from the template itself rather than hard-coding them into the software. That means it adapts to whichever version or document type template the GİB issues. For classification codes that don't match (e.g., expense record type), it picks from the template's own list; if yours isn't listed, you can enter your own code.

The ready-made rule pack added with one click in Premium Office warns you before you approve a receipt: fuel/UTTS and the 70% deductible expense limit for passenger cars, the conditional treatment of alcohol and tobacco, the invoice requirement above the receipt threshold, non-deductible items such as fines and MTV (motor vehicle tax), and caution on multiple same-day meal receipts. You can edit, disable, or delete any rule, and add your own "If → Then" rules without writing code.

No. LA Fish doesn't make decisions — it only flags and warns; the final decision is always yours. The warnings are for information only and don't replace advice from an accountant — regulations and thresholds change every year, and the outcome varies with each taxpayer's specific situation. Consult your certified public accountant (SMMM/YMM) for a definitive answer.

Fuel: with UTTS, collecting paper receipts and manual entry have largely gone away, but the receipt still needs to be recorded in the ledger — "it's no longer entered" is a common misconception. For passenger car fuel, 70% of the expense is deductible. Alcohol and tobacco: advertising/promotional expense is never deductible; drinks at a business meal depend on the circumstances. LA Fish flags these cases when you approve a receipt; consult your accountant for a definitive answer.

Image processing (optical character recognition) converts the text in the image as raw text, but it doesn't establish the semantic relationship between fields. AI-powered reading, on the other hand, uses a large language model (LLM) to work out contextually which figure is VAT and which is the total; it can also attempt to interpret faded print or handwritten sections. You review and correct the result.

Pro image processing is our most advanced local reading layer, hardware-accelerated for each operating system (Apple Vision on macOS, PaddleOCR on Windows). It reads Turkish characters and receipt layouts on the device; you can review and correct the extracted fields. It's enabled automatically on every plan.

The Free tier includes 10 AI reads per month, Standard 100, Premium 1,000 and Premium Office 5,000. On Standard, Premium and Premium Office, add-on packs can increase the limit. On desktop, local Pro image processing remains available when the AI limit is reached.

Thermal-printer receipts, laser-printed invoices, cash-register receipts, and e-invoice PDFs are all supported. JPEG, PNG, and PDF file formats are accepted. Multi-page PDFs can be processed as well.

Yes. In the mobile app you can upload your bank's PDF statement or screenshots of the card transactions in your banking app; if an image you pick from your gallery is a card statement, the app recognizes it on its own. AI reads the transaction lines. Before saving, you see subscriptions, home bills (linked to the home you choose), vehicle expenses (added to the history of the vehicle you choose) and other expenses on one screen, untick any line you don't want and save with a single tap. Each transaction is saved as an expense linked to the card and appears together with the statement in the Card Summary; an installment purchase is recorded with its amount and installment plan. If the receipt for an expense is already in the app, no new record is created; the existing receipt is linked to the statement. Card payments, cash advances, deferrals and points activity aren't purchases and are not recorded; card fees, interest, refunds and installments carried over from previous months are optional. If the card isn't saved yet, the bank, the card's last 4 digits and the statement closing/payment due days are read from the statement and the card is added automatically. It is included in every plan, including Free; AI credits are used under the same rule as receipt reading: a PDF statement uses 5 credits and each screenshot uses 1.

After verifying your account, you may choose to start the 3-day Premium trial if eligible. It includes Premium features with 30 AI receipt reads per day; accounting submissions are not part of the trial. A web trial requires a payment method; turn off automatic conversion in the panel if you do not want to move to paid Premium. For an App Store or Google Play trial, monthly Premium renews under the store's terms; cancel the subscription in your store account. If the trial ends without turning into a paid membership, your account continues on the Free tier.

Web account: you can upgrade to a higher plan anytime from the panel; the upgrade takes effect immediately, the full price of the new plan is charged, and the billing period restarts at that moment. Downgrading takes effect at the end of the current period. App Store / Google Play subscription: you change plans from the LA Fish mobile app; each plan shows when that change will take effect. On Google Play, switching billing periods (monthly ↔ yearly) and upgrading take effect immediately, while downgrading (for example from Premium to Standard) takes effect at the end of the period.

After cancellation, all your rights continue until the current billing period ends. When the period ends, your account moves to the Free tier: paid features such as export, multi-receipt and accounting submission close, while the receipt archive, Smart Home Memory, the Spending Summary and 10 AI reads a month stay available. The data you've already created stays in your account, and you can pick up where you left off once you resubscribe.

Local image processing does not upload the receipt image for reading. If you choose optional AI reading, the image is transferred temporarily to Google infrastructure for processing with your explicit consent. If you separately enable the Cloud Receipt Archive, the image is stored within your plan's quota.

The statement file is not stored. The lines that are read stay as an encrypted draft until you save them; once you save, the draft is deleted. The expenses you save are kept in your cloud receipt archive on a server in Türkiye. Reading is done by the same processor as receipt reading: Google Cloud EMEA Limited (Ireland) — Vertex AI, on servers in the EU (transfer abroad). The statement is not used for model training and is not stored permanently by Google. Your full card number is never stored; only the last 4 digits are taken. Reading statements requires you to accept the current version of the explicit consent text.

No. LA Fish does not store the account credentials and password you use for accounting software submission on its servers. This information is only used at the moment it's sent to the relevant accounting software's API, and is cleared from memory afterward.
